Hey thanks! I've been a Reddit lurker for a year now, first time speaking out. My voice is a little scratchy from staying quiet in the shadows.

Both sets were super fun to be honest. It's nice to be able to balance more dramatic films with silly kid play time movies. When I say dramatic I mean the script, not the people.

BLACK SHEEP IS PERFECT?! No one told me!!!!!! I just sang it a few times(way too few times I felt) and then I had to dance around in shoes that required vaseline to slip into them.

Have any favorite subreddit(s) Brie?

I was absolutely obsessed with /r/monkeyjesus. It was everything, my light. I've always found /r/toasterrights incredibly festive. Recently I've been spending time on /r/India. I'm going to be spending a few months there very soon.

Also, is your version of Black Sheep available as an mp3? I can't find a high quality studio version of it on iTunes or Amazon!

I thought it was included on the Scott Pilgrim sountrack on iTunes, but isn't available otherwise. I could be wrong though.

It's not on the Scott Pilgrim soundtrack. It's something like...Metric got to choose which version went on the soundtrack...and they chose themselves.

How awesome was being in Scott Pilgrim? You were probably my favorite character in that movie.

Yeah! I did film an episode. You would know better than me(I don't have cable) has it aired? The set was great for me. I had just come off of 2 dramatic films and was so ready to just make laffs.

I'm not sure if I can say anything about it? But I will say most of my stuff is with Danny Pudi!

I've heard Danny is just an all round awesome guy, I hope he was fun to work with.

Hi Brie, I loved Kate and Moosh's relationship on Tara, was that organic or in the script? Also did you get to keep the Princess Valhalla costume?

Moooooosh. We were reading a script, but that relationship was very much inspired by the closeness Keir and I had. We spent every moment together and I think the writers enjoyed watching us banter and hearing me give him advice. It's a nice change from the typical "My little brother sooooo annoying!!!" bit. Keir ended up moving into my house for a few months with his girlfriend after hitchhiking around Canada. He's the coolest. EDIT: I didn't get to keep the Valhalla costume. Showtime put all of Kate's clothes on eBay after we were cancelled - and that included the Valhalla shorts being sold separately from the rest of the costume.....ew.

That sucks about the Valhalla costume. I was wondering about that as well.

You should try and find the owners (would be willing to bet redditors would help) and buy it back from them to keep the costume together and put it on display in your house or something. It is too awesome to get lost forever.

I don't know if I want to see those shorts after what they have been through.

What's the most clever cheese-related joke you've ever heard about your name?

I've yet to actually hear a clever one. "Brie? What - did your mom eat a lot of cheese when she was pregnant with you?" "Erm, no."

Pretty cool. Barely had to watch the kid. Mostly just ate pistachios and laughed.

You bet your ears you can. I've been demoing things as we speak. My goal is to get an EP out this year. I don't have a name for the project yet. But I love the songs so far.

I really enjoyed you in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and 21 Jumpstreet. My question is, will you be venturing back to television soon or will you be sticking with films for a while? If not, is there something about film that attracts you more than television?

There are some interesting things happening in TV right now. I'm not against it, it would just have to be a character/show that I felt I could really grow with. Otherwise I'll just feel stagnant. I love being able to take new forms, animorphing. Going from fresco, to fresco jesus.

Do you prefer guys in Boxers or briefs?

I prefer guys that aren't chaffed. So whatever gets them in that general area.

How did you get introduced to professional acting? Was it something you wanted to do or did your parents put you into it?

It was my choice. My parents were both Chiropractors in Sacramento. When I was 3 I went up to my mom while she was doing dishes and said "Mom, I know what my dharma is - I'm supposed to be an actor."

How did you start? I'm a teenager that loves acting but i don't know where to start professionally.

I started taking private lesson. That was helpful in learning how to memorize quickly and trust instincts. Then you throw yourself in the lion's den and AUDITION. Which is a strange and beautiful form of torture.

Best dive bar in Sacramento?

I moved from there when I was 8. Wasn't getting much action in those days.

I loved The United States of Tara and can only imagine how much fun and exciting it was to work on it. I really enjoy seeing you in random movies (13 Going on 30, Sleepover) and being like "Hey! There's Kate!"

What was it like working with Toni Collette? Was it as awesome as I think it is to watch her "transition" to different characters?

Oh man, Toni is THE BEST. She was my absolute hero idol everything I wanted to be before working on Tara. I'm happy to report that getting to know her more only made it more clear: SHE IS THE BEST. The transitions were incredible to watch. She really knew each of the alters so when she switched it was a complete change.

It's about a boy and girl who both have extreme social anxiety so even though the two would like to go on a date, neither can get themselves to leave the house. So they go on fantasy dates. It's real good.

What's your favorite drink?

Coffee, Banana Lassi, and fresh squeezed orange juice - I guess I love strictly breakfasty beverages? I guess I woke up thirsty. It's clouding my judgement.

I absolutely loved you as Envy Adams on Scott Pilgrim. I would rewatch the movie over and over again just because of how well the director handled Envy and Todd Ingram.

I guess my question to you is, what has been the most fun project for you to have worked on in your career?

Hmmm. I've had many fun experiences for different reasons. The one that I remember strongly was the first film I did without parental supervision. It was filmed in Rhode Island. I was working with a few other girls and it was my first experience of being on my own and dictating how my days were spent. I loved being able to run around in a new city.

Do you still sit on cakes and balloons despite not being on "Life and Times of Tara" anymore?

I gave that up pretty quickly. Not a way to satisfy the soul.

Better lover: Mark Duplass or Jason Mantzoukas?

Neither felt real. Both of them felt like they were just, reading a script.

PS Loved you in United States of Tara.

It was Halloween. I was drinking punch. It just tasted like punch. Next thing I knew I really thought I could dance. I ended up soaking wet because my glass was spilling all over me while I danced. I didn't notice.

Hi Brie, it was a (nice) surprise to see you in a JJAMZ music video. Are you pretty good friends with Z and the gang?

Also, what was up with the video? Was your character supposed to be suffering from an unrequited love with your best girl friend, or were you just super bummed that you were best friends but she ditched you at the party for some dudes?

Yes! Z is my roommate actually.

We just wanted to shoot something about the intimacy of girl best friends. When girls get close, it starts to feel like a relationship. Shooting that video was one of the best weekends ever.

What's your favourite band?

It depends. My favorites that have lasted are: Zombies, Burzum, My Bloody Valentine, Linda Perhacs, Broadcast, ELO, The Walker Brothers. My favorite stuff from the last year or so has been from Connan Mocksin, Grimes, and Bodies of Water.

Brie, I've been a fan of yours since I first saw you in United States/Scott Pilgrim, and this list only confirms my suspicion that you're a pretty cool person. I recently discovered the United States of Tara and REALLY enjoyed it. I was extremely sad to find out there were not more season and almost didn't even want to watch the last episode because I didn't want it to end.

Did you enjoy the show? How did you feel about it ending?

I loved the show. Every person involved in the show was my family. It was my first real "break". I was 18, Toni Collette was my idol, and I was actually working. I moved out of my parents house so I could better focus on the job(they lived about an hour outside of LA). It was 3 years of growing, and learning through that show, with those people.

I was upset when it was cancelled. It felt like it wasn't the right time to say goodbye. So much of my identity and time had been put into that show. I was scared I would never work again.

Hiya, did you have any musical experience prior to shooting Scott Pilgrim?

Yeah. I was signed to Universal a few years before as a songwriter.

Which legend of zelda game is your favorite? I naturally assume you have one.

Oh snap. I loved Twilight Princess because of how the Wii Remote was integrated(Crossbow training was a dream). I don't have the Wii U(sad to say) But I drool over the new remote with the map on it. And how you use it as a shield ARE YOU KIDDING

According to IMDB, it looks like you've now been starting to write and direct as well. Are you planning on doing more of that in the future? Perhaps even directing a feature?

I plan to write and direct more. I did a short that won a jury prize at Sundance last year, and my second is premiering at this upcoming SXSW. I've finished my first draft of a feature, but still doing re writes. I'm also writing an interactive webseries. I hope to do more in that direction as time goes on.

What is something you love and hate about being a celebrity? Anything you typically dislike fans acting around you?

Gonna be one of those people and say loved you in Scott Pilgrim! I loved Black Sheep and prefer yours to Metric's as well! It really was amazingly perfect. I tried to sing a cover for my boyfriend for Valentines Day and it turned out pathetically awful... haha

I love the fact that my job takes me to strange places and allows me the chance to learn new trades. Right now I'm taking dance lessons and shadowing at the UCLA labs. I'm doing a musical in India where I play a scientist. No other job would give me that opportunity.

There is nothing I really hate about it. Sometimes in highly public situations people get over excited and grabby. But that's okay.

EDIT: Just read the last part. ERMAHGERD I want to hear your version. I'm sure it's awesome!

You say you make your own films. What kind?

I've made two shorts. The first one is a comedy called The Arm. I did it with two friends: Jessie Ennis and Sarah Ramos. It's about texting. The second is called Weighting and I did that with Dustin Bowser. It's a strange drama. It's premiering at SXSW if you're going?

Has there ever been a role you were really sad not to get, or is there any where you are regretting that you declined?

Basically, what awesomeness could have been, but then it didn't work out.

There have been roles that I've been sad I didn't get. The one that hurt the most was United States of Tara. I wasn't cast the first time around. They filmed the pilot, picked up the show, and then recast. Synchronicity!

My question: I read sometime ago that you were going to star in a Bollywood film called 'Basmati Blues'. How has the experience been so far, shooting in India and having the Bollywood experience?

I haven't left for India yet. I'm still at home prepping. It's been so exciting and fun. I'm recording the songs tomorrow morning, taking dance lessons, and shadowing at UCLA to better understand what it's like to work in a lab. They are teaching me how to work with bio hazardous materials. I play a scientist in the film.

I'm thinking about blogging during my experience there. It's quite a long time to be away(2.5 months) and I'd like to have a document to remind me.

So what is your favorite dinosaur if you have one?

Ya know, I'm more into arthropods. Devil's Flower Mantis.

Hey Brie! I'm a huge fan. Scott Pilgrim is one of my favorite movies and my friend and I used to listen to your version of Black Sheep in the car all the time.

What odd college classes are you taking and what's the oddest you've taken? Speaking of which I'm about to go catch butterflies for one of my classes. Love being a biology major.

Also I'm going to San Francisco this weekend with my boyfriend. Have you been there and if so what are some fun things to do? I've never been out west much less California and I have no idea what to expect but I've been singing that Scott McKenzie song a lot so I feel ready.

Right now I'm taking: Genetics and Evolution, World History from 1750, Philosophy, Hollywood Storytelling, The Modern and Post Modern, Know Thyself, Women's Civil Rights, and French.

I've studied Mycology for a few years now. That may seem like the strangest but I'm passionate about it. And a few months ago I took a Mathmatically Thinking class that was very helpful! EDIT: I love Cafe Gratitude, or Tartine food wise. There are some great thrift stores that sell their clothes by the pound.

What country do you want to visit the most right now (excluding the ones you've already been in) and why?

Btw, you were awesome as Envy! I especially loved you in the background when Todd is explaining his "cleaning lady" joke. You looking up at the sky in frustration always makes me laugh.

Have you been able to travel with work? Either filming or doing press? Which country or countries are your favourite? Secondly how does an average hardworking guy like myself end up going for coffee with you?

I have! Mostly for music. Through my job I've been to almost every state - some just for a few days, others for months at a time. And Canada. I'm actually leaving for India in a few weeks to shoot a musical. I'll be there for a few months. Should be an adventure!

Well, it depends - are you trying to get me loosened up with coffee to get in my pants? My boyfriend would be bummed. But maybe we could all paint a fence some day.

3. I was just thinking about New Mexico. I watched a BBC Horizon on Carlsbad Caverns. The "cavers" were scientist at the University of New Mexico. How is it over there?

How did you get your break? Did you go to acting school and apply at tons of auditions or did you just get lucky and meet the right people?

I auditioned a lot. Was told no a lot. I'm still told no a lot. Booking United States of Tara boosted my confidence. I worked more after that.

I'm currently listening to the songs my friend Zach has posted on his site playitasitlathes.com. He posts a song from his collection of vinyl every tuesday and thursday. We DJ together from time to time and I'm always blown away by his knowledge and taste. The song that just came on is "Melody Fair" by Bee Gees.

Acting is certainly work, but I have the philosophy that if I'm choosing to be there, I enjoy it. YOLO.

My favorite part of filming Jump Street was when Jonah had a masseuse come to the free way we had closed down to film a massive action car chase and gave him a massage in the Peter Pan costume, on the freeway.

And yes, I have been a serious Nintendo lover my whole life. Tried XBox but 21 is too old to learn how to use two joy sticks at once.
