Hey Reddit!
I've been asked by the AskRedditors from the "deaf thread" to do an AmA, so here it is!
Short Bio: I am 19 years old and I became deaf six months ago. When I was born, I had sensorineural hearing loss and didn't know. By the time I was 12 I was missing 50% of my hearing. The remaining bit (except for maybe 3-4%) deteriorated over the next seven years.
I am a fluent lipreader, oral speaker, and my signing is at a fluid conversational level. I began lipreading somewhere between 12 and 18. I honestly just kinda picked it up. I started learning ASL in January of last year.
A little random info. I still remember sounds, like what a cat meowing should sound like. I go to a hearing university (the only deaf person there) and am majoring in Communications. Laugh all you want, but I got this shit!! My SO is hearing, and is currently just starting to learn sign. I am a teaching assistant at my uni with my favorite professor, and I'm a talented public speaker. My hobbies include preventing the deaths of my fish, and knitting while watching Scrubs reruns.
A lot of people have questions about me that can involve anything from what sounds I miss, to how I get up in the morning, to sex.
So... Ask away! :D Proof: Link to my new YouTube Channel and my audiogram from a couple years ago.

EDIT- MY INBOX IS A WHORE.
On another note, I am going to finish replying to all of the responses to my post. If I didn't answer yours, it means that it can be found somewhere else in my AmA. Thank you so much for all of your questions! I really enjoyed this! :)
