Hey reddit,
We're some of the folks from the film The Internet Must Go, a mockumentary about the importance of protecting the open Internet for artists, creators, and consumers. With the FCC's final ruling on the future of the Internet just a few months away, we’re rallying experts to discuss the importance of our open Internet. We just held a special online screening of the film — which you can still watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pp1MAMkIa6A
We’re trying something unusual today, starting at 8PM ET on the dot: A combined Google Hangout / AMA.
You can watch the hangout here. (You may want to open the Hangout in a new browser window, so you can keep the AMA open too, and use it to pose questions to the panelists.)
The moderator will ask panelists some of the questions that get the most up-votes.
Hangout panelists will include:
Kevin Avery, comedian and writer on HBO’s "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver"
Gena Konstantinakos (/u/gena_k), Director, The Internet Must Go
Lawrence Lessig (/u/lessig), Harvard professor, Internet activist and author
Alexis Ohanian (/u/kn0thing), reddit; co-founder
Nate Query, musician, Black Prairie, The Decemberists
Anna Holmes, co-founder and former editor, Jezebel
After the discussion, a few of the panelists will try to dive into the comment section to answer questions, but we'll also be joined by some new folks that will be exclusively answering comments on reddit. They include:
Malkia Cyril (/u/culturejedi), Executive Director, Center for Media Justice.
Tiffiniy Cheng (/u/textdog + /u/fightforthefuture), Co-Founder and Co-Director; Fight for the Future.
Craig Aaron (/u/CraigAaron), CEO of Free Press.
We're excited to talk about net neutrality so...ask away!
And, again, you can watch the panel live on the Hangout here.
