Because it clearly wasn't manslaughter.
He saw the man walking and walked over intending to do him grievous bodily harm. For a "heat of passion" crime to be mitigated down to manslaughter it has to be done right away with no chance to really think about it. He had plenty of time to think about between him finding out what the man (allegedly) did and when he saw him walking.

He wasn't held accountable completely.
I'm sure plenty of the people he sold to spent time in prison for it as well.
