Brave the company, like every other tech company, has bills to pay, and investors to enrich, it needs a revenue model. And that model is—prepare to unholster your complete lack of surprise—ads.

Former machinist here, I'm now in IT for the oil and gas industry.

There is good knowledge in machining but you'll not make much money, when I realized my part time table waiting gig was paying me more annually than my full time skilled trade I quit the machine shop and went to college even though I had 5k worth of tool debt.

Now I wear a white shirt to work, play vidya games in the office I designed and oversaw the construction of, no more burns, cuts or black boogers.

But the stuff I learned in the machine shop is invaluable, too bad no one wants to pay for that knowledge.
