Was the design of the Imperial Star Destroyer (triangle) directly affected by the need to provide an impact in the opening scene? Thank you!

As an 11 year old seeing that opening scene for the first time was probably one of the most overwhelming moments of my life. Still rates as the best film opening scene for me. Was there much experimentation? Thank you again!
