I dunno, there are some that are similar but when you get into the object oriented, statically vs. dynamically typed stuff they can differ greatly. Agreed about assembly though. Blew my mind to find out rollercoaster tycoon was done entirely in assembly.

Is there a way you know of to end bracketed statements with a smiley? ( ... ;) looks like it's unclosed, but ( ... ;)) looks like a double close. And reversing the smiley ( ... (;) just looks weird.

I never ran into that with pure maths, but definitely with statistics. It all just seemed like voodoo maths, do this to arrive at this arbitrarily defined number. Manipulate these numbers this way to get that set of numbers. Why? Because it'll be on the exam, why else?
