You can and that reduces the wait time, assuming you match. In a live donation blood type doesn't matter but you have to get tested for certain antibodies. If you don't match but there's another couple in the same situation and you match each other, you can do a paired donation. It's a pretty awesome option if it works because you do the transplant at your convenience.

Medical interpreter here. We use summarization as a kind of last-resort for situations that for whatever reason we can't interpret for the other party. I usually use it when doctors are talking among themselves in high-register medical language, or when family members are having a conversation with each other.
