I have started every year teaching high school by asking my students if they'd be interested in reading about teenage gang members that kill each others in the street, crash parties, buy illegal drugs, run off and potentially have sex with each other, then kill themselves. Anyone who can't see the connections is blind, and literature shouldn't be this high-brow elitist club. Kudos to Thug Notes and everything you guys stand for.
