Some states don't allow ANY compensation. If you think this is a joke, look at Michigan where a guy got exonerated this year after spending over 20 years in prison and he doesn't get a cent. The guy is struggling to make it on the outside and has no financial, mental, or job support at all.

edit: not saying 1m is proper compensation either, just saying all exonerees seem to not get what they really deserve.

Was there any risk that something would happen to you if they were caught? If so, how did you feel about it?

wow. this never occurred to me. I can't believe there weren't even any file cabinets. Aren't those things pretty strong? this small fact just made me really sad.
