How often do people who get wishes recover from their conditions? Do people ever hold back from applying for wishes in case they might recover and 'waste' the wish?

Edit: I just found this from one of their Canadian websites:

Will accepting a wish mean we've given up hope for our child's recovery?

We have frequently been described in the media or by word of mouth as granting wishes for children with "terminal" illnesses. We actually grant wishes to children with "life-threatening medical conditions." Many people believe (incorrectly) that we grant wishes only to children who are dying, when in fact we see the process of making a wish as life-affirming and full of hope. Families tell us that a wish can encourage a child to fight for a future, often against tremendous odds, when courage and hope are flagging. Our wish children who are now adults would attest to this!

What did the lead surgeon say after you snarled that at him? How long did you stay angry at the people involved? Did you ever desire revenge, or feel like you were likely to get violent given the chance?

If you were to ever meet the anesthesiologist, what do you think you'd say or do?

I suspect the /pol/ effect may be at least partly in play. It starts out with everyone being completely ironic. But some people start being genuine, with latent and repressed desires coming to the forefront, and/or genuine people coming in from outside. It's possible for things to get bad enough that the actually ironic people leave.
