I personally have seen number 3 done MANY MANY times. Not 1 or 2 though.

I work as a security officer at a similar facility. Although I am posted on more of a forensic unit, I am often working with both civil and criminal patients. I applaud you for starting an AMA here! I know what you've been through!

I've seen patients throw themselves through glass windows to try to attack their nurse.

I enjoy protecting the nurses from the patients. They are very grateful and it takes more than just muscle to be effective. Not all the patients are nasty, but the ones that are, they need to be watched like a hawk. We get anything from depressed people to people convicted of murdering family members. I've also protected patients from other patients as well.

First I wanna say I'm not the original thread starter. Although I do work in a mental hospital as security.

I do love my job though, yes.
