Thanks for a late night AMA! Us overnight workers tend to miss out on a bunch of these. Anyway, would you ever consider doing a movie with Chloe Grace Moretz? I could see you guys doing a sort of buddy cop teen movie similar to Hot Fuzz or Rush Hour and I would totally watch it.

I worked as a cameraman (ayyy look at my username!) during Hurricane Sandy in CT, I chased the tornado aftermath that hit Western Mass, and I've been out in far too many blizzards to count. I'll use Sandy as my example since that was one of the worst.

They set us up in a hotel about 0.5 miles from the beach a day ahead of the storm. As I recall it was a fast mover so it was done within a day. The day before the storm we setup on the beach in our live truck pretty much on the beach. I can say things did get a bit iffy that day/night. The truck was swaying quite a bit and actually had me worried quite a bit. The live shots we did at the beach were intense. Water and sand pelting you at 60-80mph is not fun and the main goal is to keep the camera from getting destroyed. Thankfully the first day went okay, later than night the hotel got a little iffy during the night while we slept and then we woke about 3am to get out and survey the damage, get our shots for the morning show and find a place with heavy damage as a backdrop. My job for that one was to solo shoot the damage, which essentially meant driving around in my SUV finding as much damage as I could and shooting it. That was something else. Driving around at 4am in the dark in a town I had never gone to before that was pretty severely destroyed. Watching for wires that could potentially be live was the biggest worry since there was water everywhere. Thankfully nothing bad happened and after bringing the video I shot to the other crew I ventured out to the beach once the sun came up. THAT was when I saw the real fury of it all. Beachfront houses completely in the water literally floating in the ocean. Walking through the debris and shooting people's homes and lives completely annihilated was something else. Something that I'll never forget. That, coupled with the blizzards the northeast can throw at you make for one hell of a sight. I don't enjoy doing these for obvious reasons, but it is something I'll keep with me forever.
