Hmm.. Fair enough. I should've have simplified the question to what, if any thoughts he has on school counselors? Do teens feel let down by the mental health staff at schools today etc?

School counselors are often the first line assistance to teens, since mental health is very underfunded, and not everyone has health insurance that covers it.

I'm scratching my head here. Couldn't you just declare bankruptcy? Why did you let them wipe you out?

I'm graduating as a teacher soon, and I'm thinking about ultimately settling into school counseling as a vocation. I haven't set foot in a high school in a decade. What would you say are pervasive psycho-emotional issues facing teens today? What do you think about the counselor's role in assessing mental health, and where do you think they have failed?

Thanks. I will use this for my own personal reference (grad school interviews and what to focus my energy on).

Were you trying to ask how you can obtain basic literacy to supplement the opinion, of an already read scan, or do you want to obtain the knowledge to read raw images yourself, and form your own opinion? I know it's hard to see a distinction here.

I've had MRI scans of my head, and had a neurologist sit down with me and show me some of the images, and explain this or that, and it was very hard to make connections to the concepts he was explaining, and I guess, the anatomical features.

I think the M.D. has a point.

Thank you so much for the insight. I can see how school/institutional culture can be a large problem, if not most of it, for many students. Many people do burn out. I know that I did in college, and that's why I had to drop out before coming back.
