I like how the allegory for overcoming homosexuality is to ascend a mighty shaft, fuck (over) a giant, and slide back down as fast as you can before your mother finds out where you've been.

As with most synonyms, I wouldn't disagree with that interpretation, but I would propose that xenophobic deals a bit more with culture/nationality, while racism deals with things slightly more inherent to the individual, appearance, voice (as opposed to accent, which can be lost with practice). I believe a racist might dislike a Westerner born and raised in Japan, while a xenophobe would be more accepting since they share cultural backgrounds.

Its a razor thin distinction, and I certainly wouldn't call someone on it, but since we're discussing it here, I'll split the hair.
