No disrespect to OP, but I don't think he is qualified to answer this question. This is not to say I am, but I think it's far more complicated than what a drug smuggler would be able to analyze based on his experience in a specific sub culture in that region. You will find that, regardless of race, anywhere in the world where there is poverty, you can expect drugs and crime. So, on that note, I think poverty and lack of oversight (leading to open corruption) are some of the biggest factors to consider. Maybe someone who is more qualified can give a better answer than this.

We share that view. Alzheimers terrifies me, when you get it then you are no longer yourself and just the thought of it is incredibly sad. I read an analogy on Reddit recently about someone who had to take care of a loved one with Alzheimer's. Unfortunately, I can't remember the exact quote, so this is paraphrased.

"Taking care of someone with Alzheimer's is helping someone who is already dead."

Edit: For anyone who is curious, you can donate to the Alzheimers Association -- world's leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research -- by visiting their website here.

That equates to $4,160 / month assuming you work full-time 40 hour weeks. Lexington, KY has relatively low cost of living and you said in another comment that you now make enough to save $500 / month. Personally, my guess would be that your income last month was in the $4.5k - $5.2k range. If you're making anything over $6k / month then you should certainly be able to save more than $500 / month in Lexington, but I obviously have no idea what your situation is (i.e child support, debt payments, etc.)

I am sorry you had to deal with that, it's something I wouldn't wish on anyone. For anyone who is curious, you can donate to the Alzheimers Association -- world's leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research -- by visiting their website here.
