The simple fact that your guide dog looks out for you like this and has the ability to find a curb-cut is astounding! Really brought a smile to my face knowing that the relationship between you and your dog is that close. I know a lot of training is involved, but it is an easily overlooked bond.

This to me is the worst part of it. I feel for you as I too am a government employee, but people who have traveled from other countries are being told, "sorry, trees are closed."
We want to be welcoming to outside tourists and be a warm and inviting country, then our government shuts down parks and national attractions. I'd be justifiably pissed.
Best to you, hope you can get back to work soon, I always enjoy the brochures you guys make. :) I learn something new every trip.

If I were to perish and be buried in your woodland (which after reading this I want to make sure it's done), is there a way for my grandchildren to come "visit me" 10 years after I'm dead? Like, are the trees marked, or plotted in a way that they could have a picnic under my canopy?
I really dig this idea and I think it is a WAY nicer alternative than a standard graveyard, this completes the full circle of life, turning a deceased person back into nutrition for another life form.

A friend of mine did 4 years and of all of the stories he told me, the food ones were the most interesting.
One time he said they crushed up crackers to make a "crust", and took apples from the cafeteria for an apple pie and baked it for someone's birthday. Ramen and Cheez-Its was another one. He said with enough commissary money you ate real well inside.
