Growing up playing quite a lot of video games I often equated video game playing to TV watching, and justified my lifestyle by noting that there was seemingly no social stigma against watching hours and hours of TV daily. In fact, since video games are interactive and brain teasing they should not have the social stigma attached (or TV should receive a social stigma... either way).

To you, do video game addiction and TV addiction have any meaningful differences?

17th century? Why not back in the 14th century when the plague hit its pinnacle?

I'm sure it's far too late for my opinion to carry much weight now, but I find it a shame that certain periods of history are so idealized and thus overplayed.

I would love to see the road less traveled when it comes to time periods, and seeing a gritty, filthy 1300's would totally catch my eye more than another Renaissance era would.

Hey man! I don't know if you're still answering questions, but I'm planning a European trip of this nature as well in the spring, although it may be more hiking/wilderness camping for the first few months. I'm taking a repositioning cruise from Miami to Denmark for dirt cheap, then taking it from there!

Any tips? What are you planning for your European excursion? I too was a "late bloomer", and am also 24. Your experiences excite me!

$800 all inclusive for 14 days, so the same cost per day as your friend! The ship is the Norwegian Dawn, and when I get there I'm going to try to up my cabin, since my guess is it will be a mostly empty ship. No one buys tickets on repositioning cruises :P
