It's always interesting to learn how different authors approach their craft. What's your "ritual" when writing?

Every politician says they'll represent their district, every politician claims they're less corrupt and bought out than their peers, and it's brain-dead to simply say "I won't do what he did!" What are your alternatives? What are the specific mistakes made by Boehner during the shutdown debacle, and what course of action would you have taken in alternative?

You might fool a lot of people by playing the pathos card on the biggest governmental joke of our generation, but so what? That's fucking easy - remedial campaign PR. Give us a roadmap - Reddit's character limits aren't so stringent that you can't get into the meat of your policies.

At the very least, give us something worth more than your word that corporate sponsorship money won't influence your decisions. Show us what measures you're taking to mitigate their influence.

Been a fan for a long time. Got hooked via Accelerando (which I understand is something of an old shame at this point?), and stayed hooked via Halting State and the Laundry Files. Thanks for the AMA. :D
