Regarding the taxes, do you pay state and federal or just state? Does your profession change how you file? Do you have a W-2 or equivalent? I assume you don’t include tips in your declared income?

I can't help with the floor pooping issue, but our cats loved to scratch on the corners on one hallway. We had tremendous success with double-sided clear tape applied to the corners in question. Eventually we were able to remove the tape once they learned they didn't like the stickiness of those particular corners.
