My father was blind and owned two guide dogs during his short lifetime. Each dog was a purebred labrador, specially trained and cared for exceptionally well by everyone who worked with the dogs. They use mostly purebred dogs at the guide organizations my father worked with only because the purebred dogs had a higher success rate in terms of graduating than non-purebreds. Also, every single dog that didn't pass it's training, was adopted into a loving home, where they were continually checked in on by the organization and fellow guide raisers/owners. Thanks to these dogs my dad got to experience a level of independence he hadn't had since he'd lost his sight just after high school, and both my dad and his dogs lived much more fulfilling lives because of it. Without breeders, NONE of that would have happened, and if PETA wants to do away with all breeders and domesticated animals they can go rot in hell.
