Diversification is an important part of investing... but in this case it would just be the same investments spread over more baskets. If you're comfortable and ready to use ETFs they will be cheaper than Tangerine's all-in-one fund -- but more complex. either way should work great, but in this case I'd go all-in with the strategy that works best for you rather than splitting it up.

I'll add to Rob's answer: why the split? You're losing out on the simplicity of the Tangerine funds if you're also self-managing some ETFs. Either strategy would be fine.
