He's right. The Russians played with fire when Chernobyl happened by turning off the safety mechanisms and inducing a chain reaction. Fukushima was a "large scale nuclear disaster" and only three people died, and they died from a crane.

Nuclear has an insanely good safety record, and large-scale contamination or nuclear waste are problems that have never existed in the United States from nuclear power.
Nuclear weapons have egregious environmental costs over the past few decades, but people are simple and can't see the difference.

When they designed it, they made it as durable as possible. It's got ridiculous amounts of armor, and it can still fly when one of its two engines gets completely ripped off.
