As an Irishman whose browser homepage was Bebo from age 11 - 13, I'd say most people who were on it (In Ireland anyway) will go back for the novelty, and then maybe stay if it genuinely offers something good.

There's still a whole subculture related to it here in Ireland, it's quite interesting. Under 25s still regularly make jokes about "B3bo Stunn4hs 2k9", "Teh b1tch didnt put me in hur top 16!", "I got s3nt 3 luvs today, delighted" and "She woz me 1st other half on B3b0 </3"

For the uninitiated, Bebo was mainly big in Ireland with sw4galicious 13 year olds who chose not to spell well.

I think PaulioG's point is a very good one. You may very well be able to capture back a large amount of your Irish audience, but the key is to keep them. And they trick to that is making sure it's a mature website. (Mature in the sense of not being childish, not the NSFW sense).

And no matter what you do in terms of web design, users will ultimately decide whether or not it turns into a childish website by posting annoying things all the time and drawing dicks on walls.

Do you have any ideas to keep under-13 year olds off of Bebo?
