See, I'd love to see roads and transit and all that nice stuff funded by user fees. But that's not realistic. You need to collect the capital to build stuff at first. The Dulles Toll Road was extensively tolled (good!) to raise funds for the Silver Line, but even that accounted for only ~30% of the funding. The Silver Line is a crucial transit link. Would you rather have sprawl highways such as the Dulles Greenway, or gross widenings like the 495 HOT Lanes? Or would you rather have efficient, sustainable, useful transit links?
A politician that does not support VRE, Metro, The Tide, and Southeast HSR does not have my vote. Clowns like McDonnell who insist in spending insane amounts of funds on roads are even worse. What's your stance?
