It's so sad but it's so true. I was adopted when I was a baby. Sometimes I feel bad because there are kids who needed a home just as badly as me, but I was a "new shiny object" that's more desired than an older kid. Just like a puppy or kitten at the pound.

That is so ridiculously sad.

please please please talk to your kid about racism. I was adopted by white parents and anytime racism was ever brought up in a conversation with anyone they'd be like "oh it doesn't exist." one time someone asked if it was hard for a non white kid to be adopted by a white family and my mom goes "no race doesn't matter."

the truth is it does. I faced lots of discrimination and bullying as a child. actually, my parents are racist and my sister and them had even said some hurtful things although nowhere near what kids at school said. now with the internet people are exposed to racism practically every day depending on what they are doing.

talk to your kids about racism and let them feel open to talking to you.
