Just to clarify, are you saying he was involved but wants to stay out of media attention because he's concerned about immigration issues? Or are you saying he wasn't involved and was trying to take credit to get a green card?

Was he there? Did you see him? What did he really do?

That's just it - not every mission trip is evangelical. A major tenant of Christianity is the mandate to serve others without the expectation of any recompense whatsoever. I know that the church that my parents attend will cancel service once per quarter and send every church member to do volunteer work instead. Many of the charities and service organizations they suggest working with are secular, and there is no evangelical aspect at all.

Tl;dr: sometimes the mission is just to help people. It's still a mission trip.
