My grandfather was part of the 82nd airborne division. I've been doing a lot of research today in regards to what he went through. The only thing he told us grandchildren is that he landed way off course. He ended up in a diplomats backyard and they hid him overnight. Thanks to them he was able to safely locate his troop the next day. For some reason today it really hit me how truly terrible and remarkable d-day was. THANK you for your service. My question is, 1. Did you know a man with the last name Santiago? 2. What was it like when you realized you were actually starting to win the war?
