How do you feel closer to god? Is it something you discovered personally (i.e. the first time you wore the clothes you felt a deeper connection to the diety you believed in) or was it something that you have been told by other muslim people (i.e. "Wear this and you will have a deeper connection to your god").

Thanks for your response, I didn't know people thought that way about their hijabi. However, would you feel the same if you weren't told about the this "god-consciousness" attribute of the hijabi or was it something that you sort of found out yourself?

Also, how do you feel about the fact that the hijabi was adopted from the byzantine and persian societies, and not an entirely muslim invention? Do you feel that if some other type of clothing was adopted from other cultures and made the traditional clothing of muslim women would it have the same effect?

Would you say its a psychological effect or that it is because the hijabi is somehow sacred?
