The US is more socially progressive today than it has ever been. The country has consistently become more tolerant and culturally progressive overall. A democrat has been president for 8 years and wil almost certainly be so for another 4. Don't be too discouraged or cynical, the media makes a buck off of stirring a dichotomy that is not as polar as it appears. 70% of "millenials" think Trump is unfit to lead.
