Most common mistake when getting into our games is to pick the smallest country you can find because it appears to be the easiest, problem is the games primarily arent made for the one province minors. Pick a medium sized country with similar sized neighbours or good natural barriers. Ireland is popular in CK2, personally I learned to play Europa Universalis by playing England.

With Stellaris the focus has been in stability and constantly maintaining a working more game throughout the project. I joined the Stellaris fame the other week, 20ppl and no problems. That brightened my hopes at least :)

This is really a question for Doomdark, the lead designer for Stellaris and he is busy finishing the game this evening. In general though, I know there are lots of scifi fans on the team and that the ambition is that the game should be a new scifi universe every playthrough so expect lots of subtle references to everything from warhammer to battlestar galactica :)

Like most people I like to get paid for my work so I can feed the family, buy beer and all other of life necesities. Its rather annoying that some people seem to feel that we should work for free. That said piracy exists and we just have to learn to live with it, we generally try to avoid annoying DRMs so the pirates dont ruin the experience for the paying customers.
