I work at a university in student recruitment. Too many people take issue with the idea of 'student debt' being the same as debt. It isn't, no one should worry about graduating with £27,000 of student debt because it isn't treated like any other debt. - The interest on it is nominal, at only slightly above inflation. - It is not taken into account when you apply for loans, mortgages, credit cards or any other type of credit. - You don't start paying it back until you are earning other ~£21,000 a year. - Probably most importantly, any debt you have left over after thirty years is wiped out. You are under no obligation to pay back all of your debt.
What it means is most people will only pay slightly more than they would in the old system, and the only people that will pay it all back are people that earn over £120,000 a year EVERY YEAR. Let's be honest, they can afford to in that scenario!
Also, the new fees mean that most units have to offer more bursaries and scholarships than in previous years; when I did my undergrad I received £3,000 in bursaries, if I had studied under the new fees I'd have got £5,000.
The new fees are frightening, but it is just a scare mongering tactic. Your sister should not throw away this opportunity, if she really wants to go to university.

In the UK the Guardian is often scoffed at by many people for being the mouthpiece for champagne socialists, do you receive the same treatment in America?

Hi Drea, great to have you on Reddit.
Would you be able to explain what happened to Ron Perlman on the set of Sons of Anarchy that caused so much bad feeling between him and Kurt from your perspective?

Hello Brian, very nice to speak to you, thanks for doing this AMA.
As a Hartlepool United supporter I find myself getting frustrated at people not supporting their local club, in favour of more successful and fashionable teams, such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal.
In my opinion, the joys of supporting lower league teams are much greater than the joys of supporting any team regularly challenging for trophies. If Hartlepool United won anything, anything, before I died it would be the greatest day of my life, and it annoys me to hear Hartlepool-born Man U fans bemoaning the poor season Untied are having.
As a former Man Utd player/current legend, what is your stance on what I could, and will, call a glory supporter?

You seem to talk a lot about how both Koreas still think that their racial purity unites the nations, and that they both think the other is led by evil. It has also be mentioned thatthat the united Korean peninsular sees America as the real enemy, do you think it is in the West's interest to keep them separate? (Particularly America)
