At a teen lit. conference I went to recently, I got to watch a talk about the bad ways Young Adult Lit. handles sex, and the GOOD ways. "Forever" was used as the standard for how teenage sexuality should be handled by writers (talk was presented by Bree Ervin: http://thinkbannedthoughts.com/). It was really enlightening. I am studying to be a teacher someday and I was always wondering what I should do if students came to me asking hard questions. Thank you for writing that novel.

All this "moes" talk and I'm waiting for someone to bring up Illegal Petes. I love that place

I'm on my phone so I haven't watched it yet. I'm a little worried I'm going to be on this video. I spend five days a week on the Auraria campus and some days i am patient and give money/food, but some days i get real annoyed and ignore them. I guess just my own anxiety on whether or not I'm treating others like they are human all the time makes your project effective. It does make me have a mini panic feeling when i see some homeless people and i just think about how hopeless they must feel everyday. I couldn't imagine living like that.

You were at NCTE in Boston about a week and a half ago and your session was on point. My group was made up of a bunch of pre-service teachers, most of us choosing to serve and work in urban areas and everything you said about YAL was so awesome. Thanks for sharing your time with us.
