Any stories of CHEATER'S JUSTICE?

What is the ultimate goal with the Wolfram Language? I'm working through the exercises and am admittedly a novice, but by the end of the new book I'm hoping to "see the light," so to speak. I'm neither a programmer nor do I have any sort of strong mathematics background (in fact, quite the opposite), but by the end of this book/series of exercises I'm hoping to understand just what I can do with this information beyond some cool stuff in Wolfram|Alpha/Mathematica.

What can this offer people who are more creative thinkers than concise mathematicians or programmers?
