Honestly, with the way the Kurds are stepping up and doing what's right here by taking in these refugees and providing for them, I think they have earned their right to UN recognized independence. I think this is proving to a lot of us in the West that the Kurds are a moderate and tolerant group in the region that could absolutely be an ally of the West. Mad props to the Kurds, yo.

Actually Bin-Laden was a Wahhabi and Al-Qaeda is a Wahhabi organization, although it is usually inaccurately perceived as Sunni. That's my understanding, at least.
