As an Asian-American who spends a good chunk of his time in Singapore, Asian-American girls are just so different from Asian girls. Asian girls tend to be paler, look more delicate, go for a really young, cute look. Asian-American girls are usually a little darker, dress very Western, and go for a Western look, which usually means dressier and fancier as opposed to younger.

It's crazy how much cuteness Asian people like; from everything like the stationery obsession (racks and racks of mechanical pencils and lead refills) to the somewhat disturbing (in my opinion) obsession with school girls and pigtails and acting really ditzy. Ok, not all Asian girls act like that, but definitely the pop stars and idols always pose cute and young instead of provocative and mature as is the Western norm.

I love both though.

Hard to say. Both countries are equally bad at testing (though some regions in the US like NY are better). The US health system in many places is operating either under threat of imminent overload or is already past the point. That said, many other places in the US are much better now or past the peak. As others mentioned, per capita numbers are similar.

So comparing the virus danger it's hard to say.

On the other hand, in the US you have a president who is doing his best to undermine virus response day after day while also taking advantage of the situation to pass his agenda. He offers no solace to Asian-Americans who are suddenly the target of increased hate crimes. He and the GOP Senate refuse to pass aid that will actually help the unprecedented number of unemployed in the country. And his supporters continue to show that they are incapable of even retaining memories about how wrong Fox and Trump have been even just a few weeks ago, much less something like actual logic. And finally, there is a country-wide movement to reopen the economy and therefore dismantle all the efforts made so far to contain the virus.

So yeah, I'm pretty okay on my chances with the virus. But I'm not okay with the people destroying our country. I don't feel safe because of the hatred that is being stirred up (I'm not white). I can't believe the president of America suggested looking into injecting disinfectant into our bodies. There's really not much more to say than that.

Wow, thanks for doing this AmA. I have a couple questions.

  1. Did the Germans treat you just like other Slavs? You mention you had an assistant veterinarian job, so that's awesome, but what about other Azerbaijanis or Caucasian (from Caucasus, not white) prisoners? Were they just treated like the Germans treated the Slavs?

  2. How did the Soviets treat you guys? Were you treated worse than the Russians or other ethnicities?

  3. You mentioned you were Muslim. (Sucks that Australia didn't let you in because of that). Since Stalin's regime was atheist, did that ever get you into any problems before the war?

  4. Just curious, why Australia over America? I thought in those days America was very well-loved and had a great reputation.

Wow I had no idea it was this damaging and dangerous. This was severely enlightening. By the way, you are seriously very beautiful, and always have been, and when you listed insecurities as one of the reasons I was amazed because if someone looking like you had insecurities, too, it validated what people say about how just about EVERYONE has insecurities.

Inspiring stuff, by the way, good luck with your bright future.

On the balance, they aren't a morally even country at all, and they don't even have the history to balance it. Too new.

I don't see how you can maintain any credibility after this statement. What is your claim here?

I think citizens in the US underestimate how much damage they've done to other countries all around the world, and how other countries find acts like I described above as abhorrent.

Another very broad generalization that thoroughly discredits yourself. The very large progressive movement in America is very well acquainted with the evils America has inflicted not only on the rest of the world, but its own people.

The main point of academics is to dispassionately examine the subject at hand to get to the truth of it, and the truth is on balance, the US is a destabilizing, destructive nation compared to the majority of the world.

I'm sorry, but your comment tells me that you are just as emotionally predisposed against America as the Americans you described are emotionally in favor of America.
