If I were going to solicite votes at the Star Wars movie, it would have to be with the most amazing cosplay outfits imaginable. I imagine you could potentially win any candidate over to the Light Side with a good enough cosplay outfit.

As a non-homosexual male who recently retired from the U.S. Coast Guard this year - I was surprised at the environment around the period just before DADT was passed. There were a few snarky comments from homophobes who made claims about how they were getting out of the service so that they "wouldn't have to work with fags" - but about 99% of the people I worked with seemed to have an "I don't really give a fuck about it either way" kind of attitude.
