Because the “it happens to men too!” is generally used more to downplay issues of sexual assault against women, rather than to actually address the issue. That’s why it’s only ever brought up in that particular context.

It’s not too far off from Blue Lives Matter. To downplay an issue by implying that they’re an equal problem for everyone.

Honestly after reading through Glamorama I started to see life like Victor would, the same disinterested outlook on everything. I’d even quote shitty pop songs into conversations. Weird how a character can stick with you on that level.

Really depends. If you even went to the "hardcore" metal shows from the mid 2000's, these dudes were next level assholes. More worried about preserving their shitty scene and hooking up with high schoolers than anyone actually having a good time.

By and large the tone of every novel is benign acceptance of whatever is happening. There’s certainly never a call to arms.
