In my negotiation class in law school for my presentation I split the group into two teams and gave them secret goals. Both teams had the same goal, except “but they don’t have to know that” at the end of the description. The latter team did overwhelmingly better, with that simple instruction.

Acting with honesty and integrity is not mutually exclusive with hiding your own BATNA, which I think the book leaves out or glosses over IIRC
