I have heard of a theory posed by a few doctors exploring this issue. Since radiation exposure can lead to cell mutation or cell death, the human body must replace these cells. The theory states something like long term exposure to low levels of radiation trains the body to get better at replacing cells. Similar to how lifting weights rips apart muscles and they body needs to add more cells to take the punishment.
There is a counter theory that states that any exposure to ionizing radiation simply increases risk of cancer and reduces expected life span.

I loved that scene in Blues Brothers. It was also nice to see you in "Spies Like Us". Thank you for your hard work and dedication! From Cape Cod, MA.

What is your lifetime dose? As a commercial nuclear power worker, I'm up to about 9 REM over 20 years.
PS, thanks for all those guys you keep sending us all jacked up with Tc-99 and Cl-12, it's super fun guessing which one is knocking out every single radiation monitor we have at our checkpoint.
