Do you know what caused the disease?

ask me anything

...I'd appreciate if relatively neutral questions could be asked

Do you see the irony? ;)

Have you been tested for celiac disease? Approximately 1% of the general population has the disease, but estimates are that 80% of people are undiagnosed. It’s an autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks the small intestine in response to exposure to gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, and rye (and any foods derived from those grains). It’s not uncommon for people with celiac to also be lactose intolerant, and for some people, cutting out gluten allows their small intestine to heal and their body to tolerate lactose again.

On average, how long does it take you to write and record each song? How do you overcome writer's block? How do you choose a topic? Any other tips for being a productive songwriter?

Last week I had an endoscopy to confirm that I have celiac disease (biopsies confirmed that I do) and a colonoscopy to investigate lower left abdominal pain. The colonoscopy showed inflammation in the descending colon, but the biopsies from the area were normal.

Do you think the inflammation in my colon could be related to celiac disease? The G.I. doc seems to think so, but I am skeptical. How long should I wait to see if it improves with a gluten-free diet? And if it doesn’t, what do you think next steps would be in figuring out the problem?
