For those coming from r/all, and are out of the loop, what, or who, are 1811's?

One notable example I can think of is how Cloudflare generates their own encryption keys using lava lamps and a CSPRNG.

A Cryptographically Secure Pseudo-Random Number Generator.

Rather ingenious, if you ask me.

Hello! Thanks for doing this AmA

Realistically, is it a viable option for a 30-year-old, with a lifelong interest in astronomy, to begin to peruse a career in the field? What would they be looking at in terms of the schooling required? And after schooling is complete, how hard is it to find a job in a given practice? e.g - astrophysics vs cosmology/cosmogony?

What kind of demand is there currently for these types of scientists? And what do you predict as the demand for the future?

Asking for a friend. And thanks for your time =)

Hi Rod!

As a kid, I grew up watching Star Trek:TNG. I've always wanted to know:

Is any technology in star trek based on anything in real life? I.E - Could a warp engine on the enterprise exist in real life, if we had the technology?

Thanks for stopping by!

Also, my dad is a huge Trekkie. So saying hi to him would make his day

Good morning, Mr. Sorbo!

Just wanted to thank you for being the staple of my childhood mythical imagination. I remember being so fascinated by the stories Hercules brought to life.

Just a quick question:

Can you share a short story during in between takes of filming of either Hercules or Andromeda? Whether a good prank, or perhaps a ritual the actors/actresses performed before filming?

Thank you again for your work. My inner child thanks you for the memories.
