I am not a doctor but basically higher order abbberrations are caused by uneven surfaces on your cornea. Light doesn't properly reflect to the back of your eye because of this. A hard contact lense acts as a perfectly smooth surface that helps compensate for this.

Their motive is to stop people from believing the fairy tale of lasik and to consider the risks and consequences. Dr moneybags over here's motivation is operating on enough patients to pay for his expensive machine.

Of course, cutting your cornea open with and blasting layers off of it with a laser couldn't possibly cause any side effects. All of those people with dry eye must have just had it before!
