As someone who has yet to "feel" the benefit of mechanical keyboards but has many co-workers who clickity-clack at them all day: please, my ears humanity needs this.

The UK does have some armed police, yes. The handful of times I've been to Buckingham Palace there have always been a few around the gates. The actual guard are much further back. I imagine this is similar for the other residences.

Not OP, and like you not trying to imply anything negative with this, but keep in mind that these people are just regular soldiers. They go on military tours, and outside of a little training for the purposes of being a guard they're not really any different from "the average soldier".
