I'm seriously considering buying a Surface Pro to use as a more portable laptop, but the high price puts me off. Can you justify the price relative to all of your competitors' tablets (Asus, Apple, Samsung, etc)?

To give yet another prospective from someone who has worked in finance and answer the question of what I do by saying “I work in finance”. I intentionally obfuscated the answer and have also seen other people do it for a few different reasons, the biggest two of which are either to draw attention to oneself, or to not draw attention to oneself.

I’ve seen people use it to draw attention to themselves by trying to portray themselves as having something like a Wolf of Wall Street kind of life, even though they may work in middle office or back office jobs in a capacity that amounts to nothing more than a regular desk job at a company that happens to also an investment bank. Frat bro front office types do this just as much to try to impress girls and what not.

Others that use that answer to be intentionally vague because they have actually “made it” and run trading desks responsible for substantial revenue generation, are big shot dealmakers in the investment banking world, or something equally impressive/respectable. A lot of people in this position don’t like to announce their status to everyone around them, because it really creates more headache for them than anything else.
