Bipolar is a chemical imbalance, seizures can be the same. A lot of meds that are used to treat bipolar are even used at different* dosages to treat epilepsy, which is a grand old time for people like me and you who have both mood disorders (bipolar 2 in my case) and epilepsy.

Replying here to follow the rules regarding top level comments- I am currently on day 14 of my hospital stay with depth electrodes (basically needles, 14 of them) screwed into my brain trying to find where my seizures start. If anyone has any questions i would be more than happy to answer them.

Epilepsy fucking blows.

Its completely dependant on where the seizures originate. Do not take a vns implant lightly, i have one and it does not effect me at all, but it cant be removed so im stuck with a battery and wires forever. We are pretty sure the neuro who suggested it was trying to push them for profits. Not always the case, but truly give a lot of thought because it is a very permanent procedure that will make any future mris a little more complicated
