Don't you think the proliferation of VCs and PE firms preclude this from happening? They tend to hold onto the whales and IPO them more as a way to cash out than as a vehicle to raise money. What was the last IPO that saw anything near those returns? It's not like you haven't seen companies rocket from nothing to billion dollar + valuations in a matter of a few years, it's just that they are all private.
