Terry Pratchett was a brilliant satirist, humorist and fantasy writer. He wrote many books and one series of books was about a somewhat medieval town (Ankh Morpork) with wizards, dwarves, small dragons... the usual suspects. One of the wizards was a Librarian who encountered a spell that turned him into an orangutan. The city evolved, so by the time of his death, the technology was fully steampunk and many more races of creatures joined the citizenry. But the Librarian continued to remain this marvelous orangutan. The only word he spoke was "Ook", but it was very expressive and his friends and the citizens knew just what he had to say. Pratchett did contribute to charities involving the creatures - it makes sense. If you think it might be fun to read the series, the first book is "Guards Guards" There's also a wiki about Mr. Pratchett and his works. Here's the entry about The Librarian http://wiki.lspace.org/mediawiki/Librarian
