I'm a former flight attendant. The best thing you can do (besides staying in school) is to get a job in some type of customer service field. Most people do not have previous experience working for an airline, which the hiring managers know, so they REALLY love applicants who have worked directly in customer service type jobs. This means a lot because as a flight attendant you are the airline's direct representative to the passenger and need EXCELLENT people skills. If possible get a part time job while still in school to start building up your resume. Also if you can, volunteer work looks awesome on a resume. When you start applying for airline positions, make sure you tell the recruiters you've known for years you've wanted to be an air host, and started working jobs in the meantime you felt would help prepare you for an airline career. They absolutely LOVE to hear stories like that, because it shows you are already focused, motivated and would likely be a great employee. Competition for these jobs is high, and the more you can do to stand out and shine, the better your chances are of being hired. And though it's premature, make sure when you do interview with whatever airline you are extremely friendly and outgoing, ask questions and seem VERY interested. You have a few minutes in a large group setting to set yourself apart.
