Currently living in Switzerland. I pay the equivalent of $93 AUD per month and get:
- Symmetric gigabit
- That comes with an ordinary single mode fibre termination I can plug into any equipment with SFP+ and DHCP support
- That I can consistently saturate, even during peak times
- That has sub-millisecond latency to the ISP's DNS and even Google's DNS
- That has either non-existent or seriously high limits (I've downloaded ~40TB in a week no questions asked)
- That has its own network with PoPs in most major European and American locations
- With email support that usually gives me an answer from someone who actually knows what they're talking about
- With direct access to the NOC, who I can ask to peer or improve access to other networks (and who've actually peered with networks at my request)
And thanks to last-mile infrastructure being shared like in Australia, I can choose between numerous other ISPs if I wish.
This is what we should have had in Australia.
Something I don't see mentioned enough: Just before my idiot countrymen switched the government from Labour to those other fucksticks in 2013, NBNCo was on track to release gigabit.

Georgia declared independence before the Soviet Union collapsed, not sure if that counts.

They're pretty regional as well though.
In Australia (at least where I'm from), we don't use Kleenex, Q-tips, Chapstick or Xerox. You might hear Biro for a pen, which I don't think Americans have.

They use CloudFlare. Given he's listed it as a cost, they probably use one of the paid tiers though.
